ART IS A JOURNEY

    Ronak Sopariwala

"Red means Freedom and Women want Red" , Acrylic on Canvas , 24"x 36 "

"The Pyre" , Watercolour on Acid free paper, 18"x 24"

Creativity is all about taking risk be it any form of art. It is an endless journey that does not have a destination. It is a continous urge within which keeps on going that enables an artist to keep on exploring and experimenting with forms, ideas ,materials and much more. It is a language of expressing ones own views through any form of art .
This completely signifies the thought process of Ronak Sopariwala, a visual artist from Ahmedabad. Ronak strongly believes that art is created by an artist and also killed by an artist. Though this seems to be a contradicting statement but it surly emphasis on the process by which any artist works, at times facing conflicts between being creative or being professional or for that matter finding a way out in between, as this ultimately depends on an indiviadual. Well not getting much deeper in it as it right now does not have any relevance with what I am trying to emphasise on. My focus here is on one of the remarkable achievement of Ronak.
Recently for the welfare and development of disabled children, Merciful Fate Foundation had conceptualised and organised " SAMVEDANA" A Charity Art Show.
Hon. Governor Shri of Gujarat Shri O P KOHLI  inaugurated the show. An auction of the same was also held where Ronak's two panitings were displayed and both were sold at the auction. His painting," Red means freedom and Women wants Red" was sold for Rs. 5 lakhs which was bought by Shri Piyush Desai the owner of Wagh Bakri cha.  This work talks about a woman's journey and her aspirations, he further explains his work as, "
I love using symbols in my paintings. A fish is playful and vivacious like a girl and hence. I have used it as a symbol. It can only survive in water - that is its boundary in life similarly, a woman has many such boundary drawn by society. My fish can be seem out of water, in the clear bluesky, with a red rose on the top as a crown, showing that a women wants to break free of all the shackles in life. It is indeed a deep thought brought on to canvas. His another work titled "The Pyre" was also sold for Rs. 41,000 which was bought by Shri Talah Sareswala owner of BMW Parsoli Motors. Here in this work Ronak talks about the dilemma of ones own thoughts that often one comes across, not every thought works the way one wants it to work and it is a painful proposes to face such thoughts, wise enough to bury it rather lingering on it and feeling stuck and helpless, Infact one should let it go and move on. The elements used are all symbolic.

This is yet another feather in his cap. His Journey has just began as he believes Art is a journey and not a destination. Wishing him luck ..  Kuddos to Ronak .. Keep going ahead.
